The TaylorMade P·790 Irons (2025) represent the fifth generation of one of the most successful iron franchises ever created. Since their original launch in 2017, the P·790 has become one of the world's best-selling iron models, earning a reputation for blending the looks of a players iron with the speed and forgiveness of a distance iron.
For 2025, TaylorMade has refined every aspect of the design. Featuring an all-new 4340M forged face, AI-driven head optimisation, FLTD CG™ technology and improved internal construction, the latest P·790 delivers faster ball speeds, greater forgiveness and the most refined forged feel the range has ever offered.
AI-Optimised Internal Construction
Every iron in the 2025 P·790 set has been individually engineered using AI-driven mass optimisation.
Rather than using a one-size-fits-all construction, TaylorMade designed each head independently, strategically positioning every gram of weight to maximise performance for its specific loft. This creates optimised launch conditions, improved forgiveness and more consistent distance throughout the entire set.
The long irons feature uniquely positioned Sound Stabilisation Bars and tungsten weighting to promote easy launch, while the scoring irons place the centre of gravity higher for increased spin and precision.
Revolutionary Forged Feel
Creating a premium forged feel was one of the primary objectives behind the new P·790.
TaylorMade combines precision head optimisation, advanced modal analysis and lightweight SpeedFoam™ Air to produce an incredibly soft yet powerful sensation at impact. The redesigned internal structure significantly reduces unwanted vibration, delivering the refined feel expected from a forged iron while maintaining explosive ball speeds.
New 4340M Forged Face
The 2025 P·790 introduces an all-new 4340M forged face material, which is approximately 20% stronger than the face used in the previous generation.
This increased strength allows TaylorMade engineers to create an even thinner face, producing faster ball speeds while expanding the effective sweet spot by up to 24% compared with the 2023 P·790.
The result is exceptional distance and improved consistency across a larger area of the clubface.
FLTD CG™ Technology
TaylorMade's FLTD CG™ (Flighted Centre of Gravity) technology has been further refined for 2025.
The centre of gravity is positioned lower in the long irons to encourage higher launch and greater carry distance, making longer irons easier to hit.
As the set progresses into the scoring clubs, the centre of gravity gradually moves higher, producing more spin, enhanced trajectory control and greater precision into the greens.
This progressive CG design ensures optimal launch windows and consistent distance gapping throughout the set.
Increased Distance with Better Gapping
The combination of the new 4340M face, AI optimisation and FLTD CG™ generates faster ball speeds while maintaining ideal launch and spin characteristics.
Each iron has been individually tuned to produce predictable carry distances and improved spacing between clubs, helping golfers attack every distance with greater confidence.
